Probably the most popular activity for visitors to Koh Lanta is to take a tour of Lanta Animal Welfare. As a vegan and animal lover, I have been many times and always take my friends to this amazing rescue centre. The image on the right is me with my daughter when she visited in October 2022. She is vegan and an animal lover too.
I am so impressed with the wonderful work LAw does for the animals on Koh Lanta and nearby islands. Rescuing, treating, neutering, and rehoming cats and dogs.
I donate 10 of my calendars each year to be sold in their shop and give 20% of my Adventures of Psycho Syd in Paradise eBooks. Check them out here

They also rescued a street dog called Scruffy who was being attacked by another dog. Scruffy is now safe and being cared for by LAW and will fly to the UK in July to live out the rest of his days in his new forever home with animal-loving friends of mine. Check out his story here.

The tours are so popular that during the high season from December to March, the centre was running three tours a day and now in the low season there is just one tour a day at 10.30am. It is vital that you book and here is a link

The tours last just over an hour. The tours begin in Kitty City where you’ll have the opportunity to make a fuss of the cats. You’ll hear about the history of this rescue centre and the fabulous work they do. You’ll visit the doggy centre as well as the intensive care unit in the doggy hospital. Finally, you’ll return to Kitty City to once again give the moggies some love. Don’t forget to buy a souvenir from the shop coz all the money goes to helping the rescued animals.
You can help this animal rescue centre in many ways such as donating, adopting and becoming a flight volunteer. Here’s another fabulous way to help – why not volunteer at Lanta Animal Welfare. You not only help the animals but you live the dream on a fabulous tropical island in the south of Thailand. You work six hours a day for five days a week so you have two full days to explore and chill. Go for it and you can always contact me and I’ll help. Better still check out this blog I did about volunteering at LAW.

Also while you are here why not learn to how make Thai food at Time For Lime Cooking School? All profits go to Lanta Animal Welfare.
