Wherever you go, whatever you do they’ll be an Irish pub right there waiting for you. Well in most major towns and cities that is. They usually guarantee large helpings of tasty food, booze including Guinness on draft, live sports events on flat-screen TVs, darts, a pool table, good music, and a friendly atmosphere.
The Irish Embassy on Koh Lanta is no exception. And the good news for me and my plant-based mates is that they have vegan options on the menu. I normally get vegan bangers, mash, peas, and vegan gravy, or a vegan shepherd’s pie. Very tasty and filling. I wash it down with a glass of water and very occasionally with a glass of beer to celebrate my team, Manchester City winning yet another trophy.
They have Magner’s cider, Guinness, and Beer Chang on draft, and even some craft beers too. Of course soft drinks, smoothies, spirits, and cocktails. There are five TV sets showing major sporting events are shown live. Football, Rugby, Tennis, Boxing, Formula One, Cricket, Golf, etc. The music is great too with a great mix of tunes, and live music on Tuesday and Thursday evenings too.
On Monday nights you can join in a quiz night to show what a knowledgeable clever clogs you are. Thursday night is killer pool night. and at weekends loads of live sports for you to watch. Come on City. hahaha
I haven’t been to the quiz night or the killer pool night but maybe will have a bash sometime in the future. I am not as daft as I look so would be a good member of a quiz team and play a fair game of pool too. But more often than not I watch my team Manchester City at The Irish Embassy. Last season was fab because City were crowned Premier League Champions, they beat our rivals United in the FA Cup final and defeated Inter Milan to lift the Champions League trophy. But I have supported my team for decades and was there when we were shit and won nowt for about 34 years so I deserve to bask in the glory now.
A couple of weeks ago I wolfed down the vegan Weekend roast and it was very good. A massive portion too. Well worth treating yourself once in a blue moon but be warned you may well end up filling your plant-based belly with this tasty roast every weekend. haha.
I also took a quick video of the pub when I ordered the roast.
So if you are on Koh Lanta it is definitely worth considering checking out the Irish Embassy for a slap-up meal, a game of pool or darts, a few drinks and of course if you need a fix of live sports then this place will be a hit.
Maybe I’ll see you there one night.
